When I start the day in my studio, I like to warm up by making small abstract drawings, paintings or collage. Over the years this has become an inspirational ritual that sets me on a path toward my day's work. This activity has been part of my practice for many years.
When the pandemic shut us down, several colleagues and I decided to meet weekly to stay engaged in our respective artmaking routines. Sharing these small works in advance of our meetings served as a springboard for our discussions. It was through these dynamic conversations that I came to see the results of these efforts not as just warm-ups but as having their own creative value. Fairly quickly I found myself making these pieces as a whole artistic focus. I would start by producing one piece, then respond to it making a series of four or five more, with commonalities in color, emphasis and theme.
A selection of twelve 5" x 7" framed pieces are now available for $175 each, 2 for $325 and 3 for $475. This includes free shipping within the USA.
